Why is induction glass specifically used?

 

This thickness (4-6 mm) is chosen for several technical reasons:

Thermal resistance: It withstands temperatures up to 700°C without expanding or breaking, which is known as “zero coefficient of thermal expansion.”

Mechanical strength: Despite its thinness, it is designed to withstand the impact of dropped cookware (within normal usage).

Heat distribution: In electric models, the glass allows infrared radiation to pass directly to the cookware without dangerously heating the surface around the eyes.

Potential risks of glass breakage (despite its strength):

Despite its high load-bearing capacity, there are some “weak points” to be aware of:

Sharp point impacts: The glass can withstand a heavy pot weighing 10 kg in a specific area, but it may break if a knife or screwdriver is dropped on its pointed tip with force. Weight accumulation in the center: Avoid standing on the surface or leaning on it with your full weight to clean something on top of it, as the concentration of a person’s weight (60-80 kg) at one point will exceed the 4 mm load-bearing capacity.

Uneven bottoms: It is preferable for the bottom of the pot or pan to be perfectly flat for even weight and heat distribution.
